SMS privacy policy

Scope of this policy

This policy covers the usletter SMS Program (the “Program”), operated by usletter co.. It describes the mobile numbers and consent records we collect in order to send text messages.

It does not replace or override our general privacy policy, which governs everything else this website collects. The terms of the Program are set out in our SMS terms and conditions.

Information we collect

When you opt in to the Program we collect your mobile number; the source of the opt-in, such as the enrollment form you used or the keyword you texted; the date and time of the opt-in; the version of the consent wording you agreed to; and any other fields you submit on the same enrollment form, such as your email address.

We also record the delivery status of messages we send, the content of messages you send us, and the date and time of any opt-out. We do not collect health history or medical information through the Program. Please do not send medical details by text.

How we use it

We use this information to send Program messages and respond to messages you send us; to provide support when you text HELP or email us; to keep a record of your consent and your opt-out; to prevent abuse of the Program; and to meet our legal and carrier obligations.

Mobile opt-in information is never shared for marketing

No mobile opt-in information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

We do not sell mobile numbers. We do not rent, trade or disclose them to anyone for their own advertising, and joining the Program does not add you to any other company’s list.

Service providers

We share Program information only with service providers who help us operate and deliver the Program, such as SMS/CPaaS platforms, aggregators, and wireless carriers. We do not share mobile opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing.

These providers may process your mobile number only to deliver and support Program messages, on our instructions.

Legal disclosure

We may disclose information where we are required to by a valid legal requirement, or where disclosure is necessary to establish or protect legal rights, to investigate fraud or abuse of the Program, or to protect the safety of any person.

Retention

We keep your mobile number and its opt-in record for as long as you are enrolled in the Program. After you opt out, we keep the opt-in and opt-out record for 4 years, so that we can evidence your consent for the applicable limitations period and honour your opt-out without messaging you again. We then delete it.

Hosting-provider backups and security logs follow that provider’s own retention processes.

Opting out and contacting us

Reply STOP to any Program message to stop all messages. We also accept UNSUBSCRIBE, REMOVE, CANCEL, END, QUIT and OPT OUT. You will receive one confirmation message and nothing after it.

To ask what we hold about your mobile number, correct it, or request its deletion, email [email protected], preferably mentioning the number concerned. We may ask for enough information to verify the request before changing or disclosing records. Do not send identity documents or medical information.

Age

We do not set a minimum age for the Program and we do not ask for your age when you opt in. The Program is not directed at children. Anyone can leave at any time by replying STOP, and a parent or guardian can email [email protected] to have a number removed.

Relationship to our general privacy policy

This policy governs mobile numbers and SMS consent records. Our general privacy policy governs everything else, including the email interest list, hosting and abuse prevention. Our position on selling and sharing information is set out in Do not sell or share, and it applies to the Program too.

Effective date

This SMS privacy policy is effective September 15, 2026. We will publish any updates on this page and change the date shown above.
