What the interest list collects

When you submit either form, we store your email address, the time of submission, the form location (hero or footer), and the version of the consent wording you accepted. We normalize the email address to avoid duplicate entries.

We do not collect your health history, conditions, program preferences, phone number or payment information through these forms. Please do not include medical details in messages to the Reader Desk.

How we use it

We use your entry to maintain the usletter interest list and respond to requests about that entry. Joining does not start a newsletter subscription, payment or automatic email sequence. We would ask separately before enrolling you in a future newsletter.

Hosting and abuse prevention

Cloudflare provides hosting, database storage and Turnstile abuse prevention. Turnstile processes browser and network signals to check that a submission is legitimate. Ordinary infrastructure logs may include IP addresses, request times and browser information. We do not store your IP address or Turnstile token in the interest-list table.

The site stores a small preference in your browser when you dismiss the announcement bar. We do not use advertising pixels or cross-site advertising analytics.

Access, sharing and retention

Authorized operators of usletter can view, export or remove interest-list entries through our Cloudflare account. We do not sell your entry or share it for advertising. Service providers process information to operate and protect the website; disclosure may also be necessary to comply with a valid legal requirement.

We keep your entry while we maintain the interest list, unless you request removal. If we discontinue the list, we will remove the entries from the active database. Hosting-provider backups and security logs follow the provider’s retention processes.

Your choices

To request a copy, correction or removal of your entry, email [email protected], preferably from the address concerned. We may ask for enough information to verify the request before disclosing or changing records. Do not send identity documents or medical information.

Audience and updates

The website and interest list are intended for adults. If you believe a child submitted an email address, contact us so we can investigate and remove it. We will update this page when our data practices change.
